জীবনের সবচেয়ে বড় ধাক্কাটা খেয়েছিলাম সেদিন, যেদিন বাচ্চার জন্ম নিবন্ধন করতে গিয়ে পিতার নামের ঘরটিতে আমার নাম লিখতে হয়েছিল।

সারা জীবন এই ঘরটিতে আমার পিতার নামটি দেখে এসেছি। সেদিন এই ঘরে আমার নাম দেখে অপ্রস্তুত হয়ে গিয়েছিলাম। আমি প্রমোশন পেয়ে বাবার নামের ঘরে বসে গেছি; আর আমার বাবা তার জীবনের শেষ ক্লাসে চলে গেছেন। ধীরে ধীরে আমরা সবাই এগুচ্ছি,,,

অনেকেই বাবাকে বট গাছের সাথে তুলনা করে। আমি বলি, বাবা হলো আকাশ। যখন দরকার আলো দেয়, কখনো অন্ধকার মেঘ হয়ে বজ্রের মতো বকা দেয়। এরপরই আবার মায়ার বৃষ্টি হয়ে ঝড়ে। আবার ঘুটঘুটে রাতের অন্ধকারে ঝিকিমিকি তাঁরা হয়ে জ্বলে। এই বিশাল আকাশটা কখনো মাথার উপর থেকে সরে যায় না। নিজে চলে যাবার পরও সন্তানদের জন্য নিজের তিল তিল করে জমানো সম্পদ রেখে যায়।

সব বাবা তার সন্তানদের কাছে সুপার হিরো। কোন বাবা-ই তার সন্তানদেরকে নিজের সীমাবদ্ধতা বুঝতে দিতে চায় না। পকেটে টাকা না থাকলে ধার করে হলেও সন্তানের আবদার পূরণ করে।

হুমায়ূন আহমেদ ভুল বলে গিয়েছিলেন। পৃথিবীতে আসলে প্রচুর খারাপ বাবা আছে। এই বাবারা মিথ্যা বলে। "ঠিক মতো না পড়লে খেলনা কিনে দেব না" বলেও কিনে দেয়। সন্তানের কাছে হিরো সেজে থাকার জন্য মুখোশ পরে থাকে। তেড়ে আসা তীর নিজের পিঠে নিয়ে হাসি মুখ করে থাকে।

বাচ্চার স্কুলের বেতন দিতে গিয়ে নিজের বেতন বাড়াতে অফিসে ওভারটাইম করে। ব্যাগ হাতে বাজারে গিয়ে পকেট আর প্যাকেটের মূল্য মেলাতে না পেরে নিজের প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসগুলো লিস্ট থেকে বাদ দিয়ে দেয়।

বাবাদের ঈদের শপিং লিস্টটা কখনো দেখেছেন? লিস্টে সবার নাম থাকলেও তাঁর নিজের নামটি কখনো খুঁজে পাবেন না চ্যালেঞ্জ।

একই ঘরে একই হাড়ির ভাত খেয়ে সন্তান যখন বড় হতে থাকে, বাবা তখন ছোট হতে শুরু করে।

যেদিন বাবার সীমাবদ্ধতা আপনার চোখে পড়বে, বুঝে নেবেন আপনি আর ছোটটি নেই, আপনি বড় হয়ে গেছেন। আর আপনার বাবা ছোট হতে শুরু করেছে। ছোট বেলায় আমাদের মুখে যেমন কোন দাঁত ছিল না, আমাদের বাবা-মায়ের মুখের দাঁতগুলোও পড়ে যাবে। তাঁরা যেমনটি করে আমাদের যত্ন নিয়েছিল, আমাদেরও সময় এসেছে তাঁদের যত্ন নেবার।

শুধু জিনিসপত্র কিনে দেয়াটাই কিন্তু যত্ন না। তাদের সবচেয়ে যে জিনিসটি বেশি প্রয়োজন, তা হলো সময়। নিজের সমবয়সীদের হারিয়ে তাদের গল্প করার মানুষের সংখ্যা কমতে থাকে। সময়টা তাই আমাদেরই দিতে হবে, আদর করতে হবে, মানসিক সাপোর্ট দিতে হবে। ছোট বেলায় তাঁরা যা যা করেছিল সব ফেরত দিতে হবে। নিজেকে সুপার হিরো হিসেবে প্রমাণ করতে হবে।

আর এই আকাশটা অলরেডি আমার মত যারা বাবা হারিয়ে ফেলেছেন তাদের জন্য। ভালো থাকুক পৃথিবীর সকল বাবারা।
