In 24 hours there is a flood threat in four districts of the country

Jumbangla Desk: Water Development Board (PUBO) said that some low-lying areas may be flooded in the next 24 hours due to heavy rains in Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Rangpur and Kurigram. Paubo said such fears in a forecast and warning message on Friday.

 

Highlighting the current condition of the country's rivers and streams amid the rains, Executive Engineer Sardar Udar Rahman said that at present the water of all the major rivers and streams of the country is flowing below the flat sea line. However, the water level of Teesta and Dharla rivers in Rangpur division is increasing. On the other hand the water of Dudhkumar River is flat and stable and flows below the Vipatseema.

Paubo Flood Forecasting and Warning Center said that according to information from meteorological agencies, very heavy rainfall (89 mm/24 hours) is expected in Rangpur division and adjacent upstream for the next 24 hours. However, the trend of rainfall may reduce in the next 2 days. In view of this, the water level of Teesta, Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers may rise rapidly in the next 24 hours. But it is stable till the next day and may decrease from the next day onwards.

In this situation, the water of Teesta river in Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Rangpur and Kurigram districts may flow in the plain warning limit and some low-lying areas may be flooded in addition to the respective grazing areas of the districts. On the other hand, the water of Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers in Kurigram district may flow below the flood plain for the next 3 days.


Meanwhile, the flood forecast and warning center said that the water level of the main rivers of Rangpur division is increasing. As a result, the water level of these rivers in Rangpur division may increase for the next 24 hours, which may remain stable for the next day. However, the water of these rivers may flow below the danger line and the water level may decrease in the next day.

On the other hand, the Brahmaputra river in Rangpur division and the downstream Yamuna river are rising. However, it is flowing below the boundary line. The water level of Brahmaputra-Yamuna rivers may remain stable for the next 5 days. Along with this, the water level of river Ganga in Rajshahi division is decreasing and the water level of river Padma in its downstream is stable. Also it is flowing under the oceanic boundary.

In this situation, the water level of Ganga-Padma river may decrease slowly for the next 2 days and the water level may remain stable for the next 2 days and increase in the next 2 days. However, the flood forecast and warning center said that the water of these rivers may flow below the danger line.
