Arrest warrant against Shafiq Rehman revoked

Jumbangla Desk: The court revoked the arrest warrant issued against journalist Shafiq Rehman, convicted in the case of kidnapping and attempted murder of Sheikh Hasina's son Joy.

Earlier, he surrendered to the court on the condition of filing an appeal against the sentence in this case this morning. After the hearing, the judge withdrew the arrest warrant issued against Shafiq Rehman. At the same time the warrant was recalled.
Meanwhile, on September 22, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification suspending the sentence of journalist Shafiq Rehman and US expatriate businessman Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan for one year. The sentence was suspended for one year on the condition of filing an appeal after surrendering to the court.
In the case of kidnapping and attempted murder of Sajib Wazed Joy, on August 17 last year, the court sentenced five people, including editors Mahmudur Rahman and Shafiq Rehman, to seven years of rigorous imprisonment in two separate sections.
The other three convicts who were convicted are Jasa leader Mohammad Ullah, Rizvi Ahmed Caesar and Mizanur Rahman Bhuiya.
On August 3, 2015, DB Police Inspector Fazlur Rahman filed the case at Paltan Model Police Station as the plaintiff in the conspiracy to kidnap and kill Sajib Wazed Joy in America.
