Jumbangla Desk: After the fall of the government led by Sheikh Hasina in the students' coup, many of the Awami officials, including former ministers and MPs, are desperate to leave the country. Some even paid crores of rupees to enter India with the help of broker syndicates. But no one could enter below 20 lakhs. Someone found a large amount of cash and dollars. Someone had to give life. Yet the exodus in India is not stopping. In this context, the identified brokers at various points of the India-Bangladesh border have been arrested.

Those concerned say that when the student movement started, Sheikh Afil Uddin, the former MP of Jessore-1 Constituency, entered the field with his own armed forces. Later, multiple murder cases were filed against him. He is currently at an unknown location. Besides, former upazila chairman Sohrab Hossain, municipal mayor Nasir Uddin, former mayor Ashraful Alam alias Liton, Jessore district Awami League president Shahidul Islam and general secretary Shahin Chakladar are many local leaders. There are rumors in the area that several of them have already fled to India through the Benapole border.

However, apart from Benapole, several Awami League leaders entered India through the neighboring Putkhali Ghat area. Some of them are said to have managed to leave the country with the help of Nasir, known as Dalal Sardar of Putkhali. This ghat is known as one of the dhur smuggling ghats since long ago. Besides, many people are entering India with the help of broker Badsha Mallik of Raghunathpur area and Akhter Chandan of Vadiyali Ghat on Kalaroa border. Awami League people are being assisted across the border by notorious Indian brokers Gautam Das and Baburam.
