Snake wine

In fact, a live or dead snake is placed in wine made from rice or other grains to make snake wine. Snake wine is made in China. It was first prepared in one of the dynasties of Western China. Since then it has become very popular. This wine is commonly used to make medicine.

In addition to China, this wine is produced in North Korea, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan and Cambodia in Southeast Asia. It is said that leprosy, excessive sweating, hair fall, dry skin and many diseases are treated with this wine. Traditionally this wine is seen as a tonic. You will also find this liquor in the general stalls of the mentioned countries.


A live or dead snake is placed in a bottle, alcohol is added to it along with rice, wheat or other grains and it is left to ferment for several months. Formaldehyde is also added to it. In Vietnamese, the snake is considered a symbol of 'warmth' and masculinity. That's why snake wine is very popular in Vietnam.
