Mithun ChakrabortyEntertainment Desk: India's powerful actor Mithun Chakraborty is receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. For the last four and a half decades, he has held his place in the world of entertainment. He has made a place in the hearts of the audience by presenting hit films one after another.
Today (September 30), Indian Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced this news in a tweet.
Ashwini Vaishnav tweeted, 'Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty for his iconic contribution to Indian cinema.
The award will be handed over to him at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8. Mithun entered the acting world in 1976 with Mrinal Sen's 'Mrigaya'. Then he didn't have to look back. He gave hit films one after another. Mithun has acted in more than 350 movies including Bengali and Hindi.
Apart from Tollywood, he also acted in Bollywood. Mithun has a total of 3 national awards in his career. Mithun released 19 films together in 1989. Which is placed in the Limca Book of Records.
Congratulating Mithun, Kunal Ghosh wrote on Facebook, “Dadasaheb Phalke Mithun Chakraborty. Congratulations to artist Mithunda. Just request, don't forget the days of late Pranab Mukherjee's letter and efforts for your Padma Shri after long neglect and also Mamatadir's acknowledgment by sending you to the Rajya Sabha."
Mithun's colleagues and well-wishers have been elated since the news of Dadasaheb Phal's handing over the award. He is being showered with wishes on social media.
