17 people identified for ruckus over DC appointment

Jumbangla Desk: On September 10, there was an uproar in the Public Administration Ministry of the Secretariat regarding the appointment of the Deputy Commissioner (DC). The investigation committee has identified 17 people involved in the incident.

On Monday (September 30), the senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration. Md. Mokhles ur Rahman informed this information.
He said that the investigation committee has identified 17 people who were involved in the ruckus in the Ministry of Public Administration on September 10 at the Secretariat regarding the appointment of DC. Various departmental actions have been recommended against them.
The senior secretary also said that among those involved in the ruckus in the appointment of DC, 8 people have been recommended to be punished with severe punishment, five with light punishment and 4 with reprimand.
In the second week of this month, the interim government appointed new Deputy Commissioners (DCs) in 59 districts of the country. A group of officials at the level of deputy secretary created a ruckus in the secretariat complaining of being deprived of this new post. At noon on September 10, they went to the room of KM Ali Azam, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and expressed their angry reaction. They accused the Joint Secretary of unilaterally preparing the DC appointment list.
Referring to their own BNP-Jamaat pro 'deprived' officials, they said that most of the newly appointed officials are Hasina government's fitlist officials and beneficiaries. They claim that these officials have been appointed DC through financial transactions. There was an uproar in the secretariat throughout the day.

Later, the officials met the Cabinet Secretary and demanded cancellation of the two DC recruitment notifications issued. Cabinet Secretary. Mahbub Hossain assured that he would talk to the chief advisor about their demands.
