Jumbangla Desk: Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh Md. Moinul Islam has instructed the concerned to reduce the response time of the NDC national emergency service 999 to reach the users very quickly.

The IGP gave this order while visiting the National Emergency Service 999 office at Abdul Gani Road in the capital on Monday morning.

Bangladesh Police Telecom and Information Management (T&IM) Additional IGM Belalur Rahman BPM, NDC and related officers were present at the time.

The police chief said that it should be ensured that people get emergency services as soon as possible. He emphasized on ensuring accountability of service providers.

The IGP said that among the services of Bangladesh Police, National Emergency Service 999 is very acceptable to the people. The people of the country have welcomed the service. He directed to ensure transparency and accountability in providing this service.

The IGP called for increasing the scope of 999 services through various apps and platforms including social media.

It should be noted that National Emergency Service 999 was launched in 2017 to provide police, fire service and ambulance services to the people. Since its inception till August 2024, 5 crore 70 lakh 98 thousand 431 calls have been received on 999. Among serviceable calls, 83.08 per cent police services, 8.15 per cent fire services and 8.78 per cent ambulance services are provided.
