Own Correspondent, Gazipur: Three people, including a pregnant woman, were burnt to death when a tanker carrying liquid petroleum gas (LPG) burst into fire during repair work at Sreepur in Gazipur. A woman in critical condition has been referred to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for advanced treatment from Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, Gazipur .

Earlier on the same day, this incident happened near the Rajabari market of the Rajabari union of the upazila.
The injured are Helena Khatun (54), wife of Emdadul Haque of Kharkulia village of Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat, Halima Khatun (42), wife of Samsul Haque of Daikhwa village of Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat, and pregnant Rita Akhter (21), daughter-in-law of Halima Khatun. All of them are tenants of local Muhammad Ali's house.
The OC said that the police were sent to the spot after receiving information about the gas explosion.
Eyewitnesses said that some people were repairing a tanker carrying LPG on the side of Sreepur road in Rajabari Bazar in the morning. Suddenly, the gas spread in the surrounding area and the fire started burning. A fire spread with gas in the surrounding area. The fire spread to neighboring houses. At that time some women were cutting fish in the yard of the house. Halima Akhtar, Helena and pregnant Rita Akhtar got burnt in the fire. While the people were busy putting out the nearby fire, the tankers carrying the gas escaped.
Traders of Rajabari market said that the tanker carrying gas could not be found after going to the spot after receiving the news of the fire. The news of the fire spread panic in the neighborhood. Three women were burnt in the fire while working at home. They were rescued and sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital. Their condition is very bad. The surrounding bamboo groves, houses and trees were burnt in the fire. A roadside shop was also burnt.
Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital's doctor Abu Saeed Sajib said that 50 percent of Halima's body was burnt among the three. His condition is critical. He has been sent to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for advanced treatment. Among the remaining two, the condition of the pregnant woman is being monitored.
