Jumbangla Desk: It has been reported that there was an attack on the house and shrine of Sufi saint Kazi Jaber in Savar, Dhaka. The attack took place at Chakulia area of ​​Bongaon Union of the upazila around 10 pm on Sunday (September 29). At least 10 people were injured.

Around 1:15 am, army personnel came and brought the situation under control.

A Facebook ID named 'Kazi Jaber Ahmed' has done multiple Facebook Lives of the incident. In the video, the attackers were allegedly targeting homes. In this the narrator himself was injured on the head and legs.

From a Facebook page called 'Sufi Atmprakash', the people of the shrine were heard coming live and asking for help from the law enforcement agencies. Apart from this, pictures of the house being set on fire were also seen throwing bricks and mortars in different ways to attack the house.

Another video posted by Kazi Jaber's page around 10pm shows a group of men wearing Punjabis and hats walking towards his house. At one stage they came to the gate in front of the house and asked Kazi Jaber to come out. However, as it was night, Kazi informed them that he would not open the gate of Jaber. At one point, the tension spread when the men started throwing bricks and sticks at the house. At this time women's screams are heard. Qazi Zaber described in the video that his men were being beaten up.

At one point, the electricity connection of the house went out. The description of the video claims that Chakulia Masjid Imam Tayyub Khan incited the people to carry out the attack. Kazi Jaber Sureshwar said to be a follower of Durbar Sharif's Pir.


Talking to a local youth who did not wish to reveal his name, it is known that Kazi Jaber has been out of the country for a long time. After coming to the country, he settled in that area. People from different areas come there every day. Besides, Kazi Jaber posted something from a page called 'Sufi Atmaprakash'. Various kinds of bad comments are made about them.

Gholam Rasul, son of Kazi Afsar Uddin, said that the attackers set fire to the gate of the house and also burnt a motorcycle. Moreover, the shrine was badly damaged due to brick throwing. In this incident, from the followers of the shrine to the surrounding residents, there is insecurity.

Imam Taib Khan of Chakulia Mosque said, 'Local Muslims do not want the culture that has developed in the name of shrine worship. No non-Islamic activities can be allowed here.'

Dhaka District Police Superintendent Ahmad Mueed said that both sides have been urged to maintain peace. The situation is currently calm.
