Polythene bags are closed in Supershop from today

Jumbangla Desk: According to the government decision, polythene bags cannot be kept in any supershop in the country from Tuesday (October 1). Jute or cloth bags should be used instead.
The operation to stop the use of polythene in 10 raw markets of Dhaka will start from November 1. A nationwide crackdown has also been announced against polythene producers.
Earlier, on September 9, a decision was taken to ban polythene bags in a meeting held with stakeholders to formulate an action plan to implement the ban on polythene shopping bags . In that meeting, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that no type of polyethylene or polypropylene bags can be kept in supershops. . Cannot be given to buyers at the same time.
A fair for alternative products of polythene was held at the Department of Environment last Sunday. There is a collection of environmentally friendly products. Adviser Rizwana Hasan directed all departmental commissioners, DIGs of Police, Police Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and SPs to stop polythene and polypropylene bags in supershops.
