On Monday (September 30), Teknaf Police Station OC Muhammad Ghiyas Uddin said that the abducted youth was released in the hilly area adjacent to Mochni Rohingya Camp in Hnila Union of Teknaf Upazila.

Kidnapped victim youth Mohammad Atiq (22) is son of Abdu Salam of Natmura area of ​​Hnila Union of Teknaf.

The relatives said that after the kidnapping of Mohammad Atiq, the miscreants were demanding a huge ransom from the relatives on mobile phones. The miscreants released him on Monday evening after collecting a ransom of Rs 10 lakh.

Abdu Salam, the father of the victim Atik, said that Mohammad Atik went to Mochni area of ​​Hnila Union on Wednesday night (September 25) to deliver a friend home on a motorcycle. On his way back, when Mochni reached near the Rohingya camp, an unknown group of miscreants took him away at gunpoint.

Later took him to an unknown place and kept him hostage. As he did not return home that night, his relatives could not find him even after searching in various possible places. The relatives informed the police about the matter the next morning.

On Thursday afternoon, an unidentified person called me on a mobile phone and demanded a ransom to release my son Atiq. He was also threatened with death if he did not pay the ransom.


He said that after informing the police, Mochni raided the Rohingya camp and surrounding hilly areas to rescue Atiq along with his relatives. But he was not found. A ransom of Tk 10 lakh was collected after a rapprochement with the miscreants on Monday afternoon. Later in the evening, the miscreants released him.

Abdus Salam said that the miscreants kept Atiq hostage. The miscreants even beat him up for ransom . There are injury marks on his body. After returning, Atiq was given first aid at Teknaf Upazila Health Complex.

OC Giyas Uddin said that after the incident was reported, the police continued the operation to rescue the kidnapped youth. But he was not found. The miscreants released him in the face of a police raid on Monday evening. However, he said that the police are not aware of the ransom.

The OC said that Mohammad Atiq, who was released, is now in police custody. The police are interrogating him to get information about the incident.
