Jumbangla Desk: After attacking and vandalizing two houses of an Omani CIP businessman in Raujan of Chittagong, an incident has taken place. The incident took place in Dakshin Sarta village of Chikdair Union of the upazila on Monday afternoon.

The name of whose house was set on fire is Yasin Chowdhury. He has been selected as a Commercially Important Person (CIP) eight times in recognition of his significant contribution to the economy of Bangladesh. Yasin Chowdhury is known to be close to Raujan Upazila Awami League advisor and local former member of parliament ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury. Fazle Karim Chowdhury is currently in jail.

According to local residents and police sources, around 11 am, 25 to 30 persons came on motorcycles and entered various rooms of Yasin Chowdhury's two-storied houses Hajera Bhawan and Khorshed Ahmad Chowdhury Bhaban and started vandalizing doors, windows and furniture. After the vandalism, the attackers set fire to two houses and left. On receiving information, fire service personnel reached the spot and brought the fire under control.

A local resident who witnessed the incident said that a group of youths on 20-22 motorcycles came and vandalized Yasin Chowdhury's house. As well as looting. Later he set the house on fire with flammable material. They looted the valuables of the house while leaving. At that time, there was no one except the caretaker Mustafa in that house.


Shamsul Alam, official of Raujan Fire Service Station, told Bangla Tribune, "Two teams of fire service tried for a long time to bring the fire under control. 8 to 10 rooms of two houses were burnt. Other rooms were also vandalized. The amount of damage can be confirmed after investigation.

In this regard, Yasin Chowdhury said that he is currently in Oman. Talking to the family members, he learned that the attackers entered the house armed and ransacked. On the way two buildings were set on fire. As the attackers were armed, no one could resist them.

Yasin Chowdhury also said, 'As an expatriate businessman, I used to attend various functions of former parliamentarians in the area. I heard from people, I was made the adviser of the upazila Awami League.

Officer-in-charge of Raujan police station Mir Mahbubur Rahman said, 'After learning about the incident, the police went to the spot. But by then the attackers had set fire to the house and escaped. The police are investigating why the incident happened. If the affected expatriates file a case, the accused will be brought under the law.
