Jumbangla Desk: On September 10, there was an uproar in the Public Administration Ministry of the Secretariat regarding the appointment of the Deputy Commissioner (DC). The investigation committee has identified 17 deputy secretaries involved in the incident.

Departmental action is being taken against them in connection with the protests and ruckus demanding cancellation of two notifications issued by the interim government appointing DCs. Among them, the investigation committee has recommended severe punishment to eight, light punishment to four and reprimand to five.

Mokhles Ur Rahman, senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, gave this information in a press briefing at the Secretariat on Monday.

The government appointed new DCs in 25 districts of the country on September 9. The next day on September 10, DCs were appointed in 34 more districts.

A group of officials expressed strong objection and anger about these 59 people who were newly appointed as DC. They protested for more than three hours in front of the Ministry of Public Administration at the secretariat on September 10 at noon demanding the cancellation of the notification issued by appointing DC. Later, after receiving the assurance of canceling two notifications from the secretary of the cabinet department, these officials claimed to be deprived and left the secretariat.
