Along with the army, the armed forces got judicial powers

Jumbangla Desk: In addition to the army, judicial powers have been given to the navy and air force across the country.
The information was revealed on Monday (September 30). In the notification signed by Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry (Department-2 Branch) Jeti Pru, the magisterial powers are given to the officers of the Armed Forces (Captain of the Army and above) in the entire country including the capital Dhaka.
It said, under Sections 12(1) and 17 of the Criminal Code, 1898, commissioned officers of the army have been empowered to act as special executive magistrates. They will have this power till the next 60 days after the notification is issued.
It further states that in cases of offenses committed under Sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 95(2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133 and 142 of the Criminal Code 1898 can exercise their magisterial powers.
Earlier, on September 17, the Ministry of Public Administration in a notification gave magistracy powers to the army for two months across the country. This power has been given to all three forces.
As the law and order situation in the country deteriorated after the change of power, the government decided to give judicial powers to the armed forces. Meanwhile, the army is exercising the powers of magistrates across the country to normalize the situation in the country. This time the remaining two armed forces Navy and Army also got the same power. It is expected that the law and order situation will improve further.
