Jumbangla Desk: Based on the purposeful complaint of the religious groups, the interim government has canceled the coordination committee formed to revise the textbooks. By doing so, the government essentially surrendered to a politically motivated special group. 122 prominent citizens have issued a statement strongly condemning this knee-jerk policy of the government, stating that it is against the aspirations of the mass movement.

This was condemned in a statement signed by Marzia Prabha on Monday.

The statement said, "We the undersigned citizens of Bangladesh, writers, teachers, cultural activists, political activists and members of various professions of the anti-fascist movement observe with amazement that a special group in the name of religion is occupying the place of Awami fascism after the mass coup. It is trying to damage the social peace and order and democratic atmosphere by spreading hatred and intolerance against the pluralist culture of the society through one-sided and inventive interpretation of religion. Inciting public fervor among peaceful and religious people against differences of opinion, language-religion-caste, gender identity and cultural diversity is leading to subversive aspirations and threatening people's democratic rights. Besides insulting the common people of the country in the name of religion, which is also questioning the sanctity and honor of religion.

On September 28, the interim government declared the cancellation of the coordination committee formed for the purpose of revising and revising the textbook as a result of lack of coordination and foresight. Prior to this incident, members of the coordination committee formed by the government to revise and revise textbooks and participants in the July uprising movement, Dhaka University associate professor of sociology Samina Lutfa Nitra and professor of physics department Kamrul Hasan Mamun made completely false accusations of 'Islam-hatred' by the Assunnah Foundation, a religious charity organization in Bangladesh. Chairperson Sheikh Ahmadullah and Secretary General of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis Mamunul Haque. Our past experience tells us that such complaints are clearly politically motivated and we believe that there is an attempt to create confusion and intolerance among the large number of religious Muslim community in the society through these complaints. Such activity is a hindrance to the realization of the desire of the inclusive society that the state is walking on the path of reform through mass upheaval.'

The statement also said, 'We would like to say that the way the Interim Government announced the cancellation of the coordination committee for the revision of textbooks, taking into consideration the mass heat organized through social media based on the purposeful complaints of a religious group, the government basically surrendered to the special group with political objectives. This knee-jerk policy of the government is contrary to the aspirations of the mass movement. Not only that, we have seen in the media that even after the government notification for the formation of the committee, the current education advisor is referring to the word 'misunderstanding' while explaining the cancellation of this committee. Through this kind of behavior, the tendency to avoid the main problem of the previous Awami fascist government is observed.

Demanding the reinstatement of the Textbook Revision and Revision Committee, the statement said, 'We wish for a state that will take responsibility for upholding the right of all different ways and thoughts, the right to practice. A just and democratic state cannot be established if populist instincts are rooted in the government's reform ideas. We expect that the interim government will play a strong role in the formation of an inclusive state with all existing democratic sections and disadvantaged groups in the society by reinstating the text book revision and revision committee soon.'
