Dr. Muhammad Mahtab Hossain Majed: September 29 was World Heart Day. The day is also celebrated in Bangladesh along with other countries of the world to increase public awareness about heart disease. One of the health related days is World Heart Day.
This is World Heart Federation's biggest day to raise awareness about heart disease. The theme of World Heart Day 2024 is 'Using Hearts for Action'. This theme implies that the heart should be used properly. The heart should be taken care of so that the heart is able to take action. This theme also emphasizes the importance of heart health.
Once a heart attack occurs, almost 40 percent of patients die before receiving hospital treatment. But if the patient with heart attack can be transferred to the hospital in time, it is possible to cure him with modern treatment. But if the heart disease is not detected earlier, in many cases the patient dies before treatment. So prevention is the most important.
In this situation, to reduce the severity of the disease, along with advanced treatment, the most importance should be given to disease prevention, the people of Bangladesh are also at risk. Compared to developed countries, relatively young people in Bangladesh are suffering from heart disease.
Someone walking around healthy, no problem, suddenly one day it is heard that he has a 'massive heart attack'. The problem is that nothing is often known before such an event occurs. Such a heart attack results in immediate death or life-threatening incapacitation. So be careful before heart disease.
In the view of Islam, the treatment of all diseases of the heart -
the spread of diseases in the human body - Quran, Hadith and science are very important. Heart is a unique gift of Allah. It is mentioned in the hadith, Ask Allah for good health, because no one has been given anything better than good health after faith. (Ibn Majah)
So it is important to be safe from all kinds of diseases including heart health by living a regular life. There are clear indications in the Quran and Hadith regarding each of the causes of heart disease.
Some of it is highlighted - Allah says - that is, when I am sick, He is the one who heals. (Surah Shawara: Verse 80)
Allah will heal the sick servant. Allah has said this in the Quran. But Allah has sent antidote to the world as a controller of every human disease. and sent numerous food items. If this material is taken in excessive form by someone then it causes problems. So be careful in taking food.
In medical science, the main causes of heart disease are thyroid hormone problems, anemia, anxiety, depression, any kind of fear, excessive alcohol consumption, drug use, excessive use of birth control medicine and side effects of many medicines are the causes of heart disease.
There is no doubt that a person will be healthy if he lives a regular life according to Islamic precepts. People often suffer from various types of depression and anxiety in various areas of life. Which causes great harm to people.
Allah says - Do not despair of Allah's mercy. (Surah Yusuf: Ayah 87) Allah says elsewhere - That is, when a man is touched by suffering, he starts calling on Me, then when I give him favor from Me, then he says, I have received it as I knew before. . Although it is a test, most of them do not understand. (Surah Jumar: Verse 49)
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'O Allah! I seek refuge in You from anxiety, from anxiety, from laziness, from cowardice, from miserliness, from indebtedness and from falling under the authority of men. (Bukhari)
Alcohol and drug use cause serious and life-threatening diseases and are the leading causes of heart attacks. Which in many cases slowly pushes us towards suicide.
Allah Ta'ala is the owner of our lives and Allah Ta'ala has completely forbidden us as human beings to push our lives towards destruction. Allah Ta'ala has forbidden drugs and intoxicants.
To cure all diseases including heart disease, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to order the sick person to be treated by an experienced physician and to be especially careful. He forbade the use of haram substances as medicine.
It is said in the hadith, 'Allah Ta'ala has given disease and also given antidote for disease. Every disease has a cure. So you take treatment. But do not take treatment with haram substances. Allah Ta'ala has not kept you healthy or free from disease in forbidden things.'
According to the hadith, receiving medical treatment is not only permissible but desirable in the eyes of Islam. Islam urges people to stay away from the causes that can make them sick.
* Food and drink are one of the causes of human diseases. Hadith Sharif says, 'Stomach is the center of all diseases.'
Islam enjoins moderation in this matter and discourages overeating and prohibits unhealthy foods. Allah says - ie 'Eat and drink and waste not. Surely He does not like the wasteful.' (Surah A'raf: Verse 31)
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'Keep one-third of the stomach empty for food, one-third for drink and one-third for breathing'. (Ibn Maja)
* Covering food and not blowing on it while drinking. Because it can cause diseases. In another hadith, 'Warner! Don't blow on the water.' (Tirmidhi)
* Islam instructs to wash hands before and after eating. Because there is a risk of disease due to the presence of poisonous germs on the hands.
* Physical sports, exercise and swimming etc. are encouraged to keep the body healthy, strong and fresh. Regular physical activity and rest are essential for good health.
Idleness is highly abhorred in Islam. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'O Allah! I seek refuge in You from anxiety, depression, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, indebtedness and being subject to human authority.' (Bukhari)
* Along with physical health, mental health of people is also important. Because mental calmness and productivity increases the body's immune system. Mental anxiety and restlessness lowers the body's immune system. Allah says, 'Know! The heart is calmed by the Ziqi of Allah Ta'ala.' (Surah Rad: Verse 28)
Amal-
One can stay free from heart pain and disease even during the amal of Quranul Kareem. Those who follow the Qur'an regularly, Allah Ta'ala will remove all diseases including heart pain.
The supplication is
- Pronounced: Allajina Amanu wa Tatwamainnu Qbulubuhum Bizikrillahhi Ala Bizikrillahhi Tatwamainnul Qbulubu.' (Surah Rad: Verse 13)
Deed: Whoever recites the mentioned verses of Surah Rad regularly 41 times, Allah Ta'ala will remove the pain and diseases of his heart. It is also important to do more Zikr according to the instructions of the verse. So the remembrance of Allah and the deeds of the Quran can keep people free from all diseases and pains of the heart.
Finally, I want to say that Islam has done everything necessary for the welfare and success of humanity. Quran and Hadith bear proof of that. So everyone should follow the rules of Quran in real life for healthy heart and healthy body.
Emphasis on Islamic precepts. Therefore, as true Muslims, we should try to live a good life by following the health principles given by Islam.
