Jai and Putul's bank account is suspended

Jumbangla Desk: Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) of Bangladesh Bank has ordered the suspension of the bank accounts of Awami League president and ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son Sajib Wazed Joy and his daughter Saima Wazed Putul.

A senior BFIU official confirmed the matter on Monday (September 30).

According to the directive, the bank accounts of Sajib Wazed and Saima Wazed Hossain's personal and privately owned institutions will be suspended. For the next 30 days, you will not be able to make any kind of transaction. Transaction suspension period may be extended if necessary.

In the same directive, Sajib Wazed Joy and Saima Wazed Putul's accounts have been suspended as well as their account related information or documents such as account opening form, KYC and transaction statement etc. have been directed to be sent to BFIU.

Sajib Wazed Joy is the first child of Sheikh Hasina and nuclear scientist MA Wazed Mia. He was the unpaid information and communication technology advisor to the prime minister during the previous Awami League government.

Wazed and Sheikh Hasina's second child, Saima Wazed Puthul, is an autism specialist. He has been the Regional Director of the World Health Organization since 1 November 2023.
