Jumbo Bangla Desk: The local students have demolished the drug arena of the local Jubo League leader, which was built by occupying the land of the government cemetery in Baufal of Patuakhali .
On Sunday (September 29) around two o'clock in the afternoon, the house known as a drug arena was demolished in the government cemetery area of Kalaia Bandar of the upazila.
According to local sources, about 10 years ago, Kalaiya Union Jubo League president Md. occupied the land of the government cemetery and built a tin shed two-story house. Mizanur Rahman alias Mizan Molla. Drug buying and selling, consumption and gambling sessions were held in that arena. The house is known as the drug den of Jubo League leader Mizan Mollah.
As Mizan Molla was the influential leader of the previous Awami League government, the locals did not dare to protest. Mizan Molla's main aide Rezaul Sarkar alias Reju controlled the drug trade. There are several drug cases against him. Rezaul could not be arrested even though a large quantity of drugs was recovered in several police raids.
Finally, on Sunday afternoon, local students took out an anti-drug protest march from the large pond area of the port. They destroyed the drug arena with a procession.
In this regard, Altaf Hossain, a local resident, said that Jubo League leader Mizan Molla used to illegally build a house in the cemetery and set up drug trading, consumption and gambling parties. Although there was anger among the local conscious people about this, there was no atmosphere to protest. Many people have been assaulted by protesting. Such drug arenas are not acceptable in Muslim holy places. Therefore, the conscious students of the area have demolished the drug arena.
In this regard, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Baufal police station. Kamal Hossain said, I don't know about any such thing. However, the police operation against drugs is going on. The campaign will be intensified.
