International Desk: A leopard was beaten to death after attacking a volunteer jawan in Bijnor village of Uttar Pradesh state, India.

An official of the Forest Department gave this information on Saturday (September 28).

It is learned that when the leopard pounced on the volunteer, his three children who were there fought fiercely with the tiger to save their father.

He said that the incident took place in Amannagar village on Friday evening local time.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Gyan Singh said volunteer jawan Surendra went to a tubewell behind the house. Three children Disha (20), Reshu (14) and Dipanshu (18) were with her. They went there and saw a leopard sitting on a mango tree.

Seeing Surendra, the leopard pounced on him. Surendra told the villagers that Disha showed great courage when the tiger attacked. He pulled the tiger's tail from behind. Reshu and Deepanshu also joined it. They fought the tiger for about 10 minutes!

Hearing their voices, the locals rushed to the spot. Later the leopard was beaten to death with a stick.

Gyan Singh said senior officials have been informed about the incident and post-mortem of the leopard has been carried out.

The dead leopard was a female leopard and was approximately three years old. He said that departmental measures are being taken in this regard.
