Jumbangla Desk: The mother and sister of retired army officer Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, who tragically died in police firing, met Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman on Monday (September 30, 2024) at army headquarters.

At that time, the mother and sister of late Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan became emotional due to the pain of losing their child and brother and demanded that the accused in the murder be punished as per the law.

The army chief expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and promised to extend all possible cooperation to ensure speedy justice to those involved in the killings in accordance with the law.

On the night of July 31, 2020, Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, a retired army officer, was killed by police firing at the Shamlapur Police Checkpost on Marine Drive Road in Teknaf.

In this incident, on August 5 of the same year, his sister filed a murder case accusing 15 people including the former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das and the former inspector of Baharchhara Police Outpost Liaquat Ali.


On the afternoon of January 31, 2021, Judge Mohammad Ismail of the District and Sessions Court sentenced two to death, six to life and acquitted seven of the 15 accused in the case.

The two sentenced to death are - dismissed OC Pradip Kumar Das of Teknaf police station and dismissed Inspector Liakat Ali of Shamlapur Police Investigation Center of Baharchhara Union.

The accused who have been sentenced to life imprisonment are- SI Nand Dulal Rakshit, Constable Sagar Dev, Rubel Sharma, Police sources Nurul Amin, Nizam Uddin and Ayaz Uddin.

The seven acquitted from the case are - APBN SI Shahjahan Ali, Constable Md. Rajeev, Md. Abdullah, police constables Safanul Karim, Kamal Hussain, Liton Miah and Abdullah Al Mamun.

Four years have passed since Sinha's murder, but the verdict has not yet been implemented. Sinha's mother and sister want execution of the convicts.
