Jumbangla Desk: Advisor to Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Ministry of Water Resources, Syeda Rizwana Hasan said, "Until order is brought to the road, everyone should reduce the speed of their vehicles."

He said this on Tuesday (October 1) at the official opening ceremony of the three-kilometer quiet area on the front road including the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport premises.

The environmental advisor said, 'to restore order on the road, everyone should reduce the speed of their vehicles. Changing long-standing habits will take time. It will be implemented through awareness and law enforcement. This awareness work will be done for the next seven days.

He said, 'With the aim of creating a positive view of expatriates and foreigners, a three kilometer silent area has been declared along the road in front of the Shahjalal International Airport area. Later it will be made nationwide in phases. Changes will also be made to the regulation of horn blowing.

Earlier, DNCC Public Relations Officer Maqbul Hussain said in a message that the silent zone will be the designated area on both the north and south sides of the airport extending from Scholastica School to Hotel La Méridien. This decision has been taken considering the overall environment and public health of the airport .

He further informed. The decision has been taken in accordance with Rule-4 of the Airport Noise Pollution Control Rules-2006. The silence area will be enforced at three points of one and a half kilometers by the Magistrate Team of Environment Department, Airport and BRTA. Department of Environment in front of La Méridien, Babychock at Airport Roundabout, BRTA at Scholastica Point.
