Correspondent: A human chain was held in front of Bangladesh Bank in Motijheel in connection with the unfair dismissal of 2 thousand 668 people of BRAC Bank .
On Tuesday (October 1) morning, the dismissed officers and employees participated in the human chain.
At that time, the agitators said that till now 2 thousand 668 employees of BRAC Bank have been unjustly fired.
They said, we were working as permanent officers at Brack Brang. During our service, we performed our duties honestly and faithfully in various departments in the said bank and earned promotions and various performance awards by proving our competence in our respective fields.
They also said that we have been faithfully fulfilling their duties for a long time and we have not neglected the bank in any way. But BRAC Bank management, forcefully and without any clear reason, suddenly sacked him without giving any notice or warning. They make baseless allegations against us, take such drastic action without any impartial inquiry or discussion.
Before this, they filed a complaint in the Financial Integrity and Customer Services Department of Bangladesh Bank. On September 1, Bangladesh Bank investigated the complaint and confirmed the truth of the complaint. Based on that, they were ordered to be reinstated.
But till now, the bank has not contacted the dismissed to join.
The report of Bangladesh Bank mentions that the arbitrariness of the senior officials in arbitrary dismissal, the purposeful investigation by ignoring the rules and the innocent officers have been criminalized for serving their personal interests.
Such activities are in complete violation of labor laws, human rights and Bangladesh Bank's B,R,PD circulars.
During the human chain, the agitating workers presented three demands.
The demands are:
1. The sacked workers should be reinstated immediately and the victims should be adequately compensated.
2. BRAC Bank authorities should take legal action against those responsible for this incident.
3. Bangladesh Bank needs to introduce a transparent and accountable process to prevent recurrence of such injustices in future.
