Jumbangla Desk: Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, this year's puja will be the most smooth and the best.
He said this to the reporters after the 'law and order advisory committee meeting' in the ministry meeting room at the secretariat on Tuesday (October 1).
The advisor said, today was the second meeting of the law and order advisory committee. In this meeting, it was discussed that the upcoming Durga Puja can be uninterrupted. Hopefully, this year's puja will be the most seamless, the best.
He said that the law and order situation of the country was also discussed. I have also talked about the trouble going on in the factories in Ashulia. I also spoke in detail about arms recovery operations and prevention of drug use. We also talked about the Myanmar border. At that time, in response to a question, Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that the work of police reform is supposed to start from October 1. I am not doing the renovation work, a separate committee has been made for this. That committee will do the work. They will report to us, based on that report, reforms will be made.
The Home Affairs Adviser said that the policemen who have not yet joined the force after the uprising will be treated as criminals.
When asked how many policemen have not yet joined the work, Jahangir Alam said it was like 187 people. After that no one else seems to have joined. Those who did not join, they should be brought under the law. We will not call them police, they will be considered as criminals.
Regarding the security of the puja, he said that he will take all steps to ensure the puja is uninterrupted. Hope this year's puja will be better than last time. Everyone's help and cooperation is needed for this. The improvement in the law and order situation is satisfactory. As days go by, the law and order situation will improve further.
He also said that besides this, we discussed in the meeting how to provide security to various shrines and dargahs. We talked about the garment sector in particular.
