On Tuesday (October 1) morning, the workers of T&Z Group's APL Apparels Limited factory in Mogarkhal area of Gazipur city are protesting. Meanwhile, the agitated workers took out a protest march and blocked the Bhogra area of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. Traffic has been stopped since 8:30 am. Those traveling on that road have suffered.

According to industrial police, Thana police and workers, the workers of APL Apparels Limited factory of T&Z Group in Gazipur city protested early last month demanding unpaid wages. But the owner first expressed inability to pay the salary, then said to pay the salary on September 30. After that the workers did not do any movement or protest.

The authority did not pay the salary as scheduled on Monday afternoon. Later in the night, workers protested and blocked the highway. The workers went back home around 9 pm and around 8:30 am again blocked the highway at Bhogra junction in the district demanding salary. Traffic stopped on the Dhaka-Mymensingh and Dhaka-Tangail highways.

Due to the blockade of the highway, 5 to 6 kilometers of traffic jam was created on both sides of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. Besides, traffic jam has been created for at least 5 km from Bhogra in Gazipur towards Tangail. The road users have suffered due to this.

On the other hand, the workers of MM Knitwear Limited factory in Konabari area of the metropolis started a protest on Monday afternoon demanding increase in tiffin bill, night bill and attendance bonus. Since there was no solution, they stopped working again from Tuesday morning and started protesting.

Gazipur Industrial Police Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sarwar Alam said that efforts are being made to resolve it by talking to the workers and owners.
