Jumbangla Desk: The police have arrested three persons in connection with the kidnapping and robbery of a businessman named Anwar Hossain in Jatrabari of the capital. They were arrested from Konapara of Jatrabari on Monday (September 30).

The arrested persons are - Md. Yamin Bhuiyan, Md. Ibrahim and Masood Rana. A pistol, a magazine, 14 rounds of bullets and an autorickshaw used in the robbery were seized from them.

Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of DMP Media and Public Relations Department Muhammad Talebur Rahman gave this information on Tuesday (October 1) afternoon.

He said, 'Anwar Hossain is a college student. In addition to studying, he trades gold in Kalibazar, Narayanganj. On Monday afternoon, they left Narayanganj to buy gold and silver at Banshal Tantibazar in the capital. Later reached Mridhabari stand of Jatrabari by rickshaw from Shanir Akhara at 6:30 pm. At that time, a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw blocked his way. Immediately three people got down from the CNG and beat the rickshaw driver and took Anwar's face with a cloth and took him away.

This DMP official said, 'Yamin threatened Anwar with a pistol and took away Tk 2 lakh in his pocket, Tk 2,500 in his wallet and a mobile phone. CNGT from Mrdhabari stand at 6.50 pm in front of Konapara bus stand got into a jam. Then the cloth on Anwar's face was removed. Anwar kept shouting after seeing the police patrol team. When the patrol team came near the CNG, the kidnappers tried to escape, leaving Anwar behind. Later they were arrested.'

DC Talebur Rahman also said that a robbery case and another case under the Arms Act have been registered against the arrested persons.
