Babar Azam had bid farewell to the captaincy after the last ODI World Cup due to failure. However, he was again made the captain ahead of the T20 World Cup. He failed there too. Babar Azam's leadership has been in question ever since. The star batsman has announced that he will step down from the leadership for the second time after six months.

Babar announced his decision to be white in a statement on social media. He said that he made such a decision to give priority to batting.


Babar wrote, 'I will tell you a news today. I have decided to step down from the leadership of the Pakistan cricket team.'


Explaining his reasons for stepping down, Babar wrote, 'It was a great honor to lead the team. But now it's time for me to step back and focus on my game. Leadership gives experience. But it also significantly increases workload. I want to prioritize my performance, enjoy batting and spend enough time with my family, which will make me happy.'

 


Earlier, Shaheen Shah Afridi became the captain after stepping down after the last ODI World Cup. However, after one series, he was removed and Babar was given the lead for the second time. However, after six months, Babur had to move again.
