Students camp call to stand by the flood victims of northern region

Jumbangla Desk: Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir has called upon the organization's responsible, workers and conscious citizens of the country to come forward to help the flood-affected people.

On Tuesday (October 1), the party's central president Manjurul Islam and general secretary Zahidul Islam made this call in a joint statement.

In the statement, they said, due to heavy rains and landslides from India, severe floods have occurred in the northern part of the country. Vast areas of Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Nilphamari and Gaibandha were inundated. As a result, millions of people have been trapped in water and have faced a humanitarian disaster. People across the river are spending their days in fear due to the occurrence of river erosion in many areas. Roads are submerged and fish in ponds are washed away.

Due to the submergence of roads and houses, the normal life of people is being disrupted. All classes of people including women, children, old people have suffered greatly. People have to face desperate situation trying to protect cattle and poultry. Thousands of hectares of cropland were submerged under water, causing huge losses to farmers.

Mentioning that it is very important to stand by the flood affected people, they said, I am calling on the leaders and activists of all levels of the Islamic Student Camp to stand by the flood victims.

In the statement, they expressed hope that the government will pay special attention to the northern region, which is lagging behind in many ways. Besides, all conscious citizens will come forward to help the flood victims in the light of their ability.
