Juri Upazila Jubo League General Secretary Shekrul Islam (45) of Moulvibazar has been arrested by the police. He was arrested from Bhogtera village of Jaifar Nagar union of the upazila on Wednesday morning.

The investigating officer of the case, Deputy Inspector (SI) of Juri Police Station, Sirajul Islam, gave this information.

As part of the central program of the anti-discrimination student movement, ordinary students held a program in Juri city on July 16 and August 3 and 4. Awami League and organizational leaders attacked ordinary students for three days. Especially when the students took out a peaceful procession on August 3, the leaders and workers of Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League stopped them. Several students were injured in their attack.

Tarek Mia, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, filed a case against 63 leaders and workers of Awami League and organizations in this incident on August 26. Shekrul Islam was also accused in this case.
