Jumbangla Desk: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has issued directives declaring products 'red list free' at the request of Pakistan. As a result, there is no longer a mandatory manual inspection requirement for goods imported from Pakistan.

Products coming from Pakistan 'red list free' According to the recent order issued by NBR, all types of products coming from Pakistan have been exempted from the 'red list' of Asycuda World system. Only Pakistani products were in this 'red lane'.

The country's products have been exempted from the 'red list' as they passed the National Selectivity Criteria test. According to the order, all consignments of goods coming from Pakistan are being selected for 100% manual examination on National Selective Criteria. As a result, Assistant or Deputy Commissioner level officials are spending more time in delisting from the red list. Apart from that, no significant results are available in physical examination.

The order also said that all shipments from Pakistan will be outside the National Selectivity Criteria. However, the customs houses have been asked to keep the product-based risk management system in place considering the risks from time to time under the local criteria.

It is to be noted that after the Awami League government came to power in 2009 , NBR redlisted all products coming from Pakistan citing security reasons . After the change of power, relations with Bangladesh have started to normalize again.

Pakistan's High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maruf on September 10 Finance and Trade Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed called for strengthening the stagnant bilateral trade relations. At the request of the country, the interim government has taken steps to de-list goods from Pakistan.
