Manipur has extended the 'Armed Forces Special Powers Act' for another six months from last Tuesday. The Act has been extended in the entire state except for 19 police station areas including Imphal, Bishnupur, Jiribam and Lamphel. The decision was taken to curb the violent activities of some angry and radical groups and to keep the law and order situation under control. Recently, the conflict between the Meitei and Kuki communities of Manipur has heated up again due to drone strikes in two places of Kongpokpi and West Imphal.

Then on September 6, there was a rocket attack on the house of former Chief Minister Merembam Koireng in Bishnupur district. Then there are attacks in stages across the vast area of Manipur. A lot of ammunition and firearms were seized from various areas during the search operation. 28.5 kg explosives were also recovered in a joint operation by police and army in East Imphal district .
