Names of 6 Israelis killed in Hamas attack revealed

International Desk: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has released the names of 6 of the 7 people who were killed by a gunman in Jaffa, the capital of Israel. 16 more people were injured in this incident.

Meanwhile, Hamas has accepted responsibility for the attack on Tuesday night.

In a statement on Wednesday, Hamas said the attack was carried out by two members of its military wing, Qassam Brigades, Mohammed Mesek and Ahmed Himouni. Those who went from Hebron to Jaffa and carried out this attack.

The 6 dead are Revital Bronstein (24), Ilia Nozadze (42), Shahar Goldman (30), Inbar Segev Vigder (33), Nadia Sokolenko (40) and Jonas Krosis (26).

Earlier, Israel's National Emergency Services Authority said the attack took place near a railway station in Jaffa.

According to the Israeli police, the two attackers were disarmed. But they fear another terrorist is in the area.

Meanwhile, Sela unit head Hanan Peretz praised the law enforcement forces for taking quick action against the attackers. He said, 'They identified the gunman and shot at him. It seems that the terrorists' weapons had malfunctioned during the firing.'

On the other hand, Tel Aviv district commander Haim Sargrof said, 'It was a difficult incident. Around 7pm on Tuesday we received a report that two terrorists boarded the light rail and opened fire. They injured four people, then exited the train and opened fire on civilians, including two officers, on the street. Later the municipal cell unit and police officers fired at the gunmen and disarmed them and we are conducting further searches.' Source: Times of Israel
