Entertainment Desk: Mithun Chakraborty is going to be honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. India's Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav confirmed the matter in a tweet on Monday (September 30). The actor, who has already received the National Award, Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, India's highest civilian award, will now receive the Dadasaheb Phal.
According to Indian Express, the award will be handed over to the actor at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8. Ashwini Vaishnav tweeted, Mithun Dar's extraordinary cinematic journey is an inspiration for all generations. The selection jury has decided to give the award to the legendary actor Dadasaheb Phal. He has outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.
Talking about the Dadasaheb Phalke award, Mithun said, "I never thought that a boy from the footpath would get such a big honour. I came up from the dead end of Calcutta. Stayed on the pavements of Mumbai. I never imagined that I would get such a great honor. Believe me, I am literally shocked. I can neither laugh nor cry.
The popular actor also said, I am completely speechless. I dedicate this award to my family and all my fans around the world. I have received so much love from fans, I am truly blessed.
Incidentally, Mithun started his career in 1976. Mithun Chakraborty made his debut on the big screen with the movie 'Mrigaya' by popular director Mrinal Sen. Mithun has acted in more than 350 movies including Bengali and Hindi. In the last four decades, this actor can be seen in movies of different languages and genres.
