Dadasaheb Phalke Award is given to Mithun Chakraborty in recognition of his 48 years of acting journey. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnab told X Handle this on Monday. At that time, Mithun was shooting a Bengali movie in Kolkata. As the news spread, well wishes poured in.

When asked whether he received Mamata's greetings at the press conference, Mithun said, 'No, why would he do it?' When asked why not, his reply was, 'I am an opposition party.'

Then the journalists told him, 'You are from this state, a Bengali.' Hearing that, Mithun said, 'I don't think he feels that. I don't want to get involved. Not calling is a personal matter.'

Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh congratulated Mithun on receiving Dada Saheb Phalke award. At the same time on the X handle, he wrote, 'Just a request, don't forget the days of late Pranab Mukherjee's letter and efforts for your Padma Shri after long neglect and also Mamatadir's recognition by sending you to the Rajya Sabha.'

Incidentally, Mithun was once a Rajya Sabha MP on a Trinamool ticket, but later resigned. He joined the BJP before the Ekush assembly elections. He also campaigned for BJP candidates in the Lok Sabha elections in the state this year.
