Nazmul Islam: Retired officers-employees do not need to apply, do not pay bribe to get all dues including gratuity. Even the head office does not have to be harassed. Without asking, all the debts are deposited as their bank at the right time.
Retired officers and employees will get their dues so easily - it is like a golden dream. Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has made this dream a reality.
For this BRTC has made a nice policy. And according to this policy, every 3 months dues are being paid to the bank to the retirees on the basis of equity and financial resources. Who will get how much money is determined by considering the proportional rate of the outstanding amount.
In the last three and a half years, the BRTC authority has paid more than four hundred manpower.
BRTC spokesperson Colonel Mubarak told Jumbangla that 294 retired officers and employees of BRTC will be paid Tk 4.7 million today (October 3). In this way, about 4 to 5 crore rupees are given every three months. And for that, you don't have to pay a single bribe, you don't have to be a victim of any harassment.
Retired officers and employees of BRTC said that in the last three and a half years, they have received twice the amount of their deposited money i.e. CP fund and gratuity without bribery.
However, their complaint is that earlier officials used to offer 20 to 30 percent bribe to get this money easily.
The money was brought from the Finance Department of the Ministry of Finance to pay the dues of the retired manpower. A third of this money went into the pockets of the then officials and brokers. If bribes were not paid, files were kept for approval for 2 to 10 years. Now it's the opposite. The approval of the file is received in maximum 7 days.
Jumbanglar spoke to Mohammad Ali of Brahmanbaria, a retired driver. He said, 'Now we are getting all dues including gratuity without bribery and harassment. I didn't even apply to get the debt. I didn't even have to go to the BRTC head office to get the money. I got the money in the bank. That's why I thanked Nafal by fasting.'
Ruhul Amin of Noakhali, who retired as a bus conductor, said, 'I have received Tk 19 lakh of the 2.7 lakh I owe. My file was approved in just 7 days. We pray for BRTC sirs. Every three months our dues are going into our bank. Earlier we had to drive rickshaws to support our family. Now I am happy to understand the money owed easily.'
General Manager of BRTC Md. Amjad Hossain told Jumbangla, 'It has become possible due to working with proper planning. Transparency in financial management has resulted in increased revenue and cost reduction resulting in increased net profit. BRTC has become a profitable organization due to the elimination of corruption at all levels. All liabilities are being paid from this money.
