ICC banned Lankan cricketer from all forms of cricket

After making his debut in international cricket in 2021, left-arm spinner Pravin Jayawickrama has played only 15 matches. Basically, after 2022, he could no longer wear the jersey of the national team. Meanwhile, he is involved in immoral activities. The ICC banned Jaywickrama from all forms of cricket for one year as the offense was proved.

The governing body of world cricket gave this information in a statement today (Wednesday). However, it is also reported that the ban given to him will be reduced by six months. Jayavikrama was found guilty of breaching Article 2.4.7 of the ICC's Anti-Corruption Policy. The ICC had already filed charges against him and set time to explain. That deadline ends on August 20.

The ICC recalled the clause by announcing the ban on the Lankan spinner. Where it is said that - by deleting the messages through which the proposal to involve in corruption was made, he disturbed and obstructed the investigation of the anti-corruption department.

Earlier, after the complaint against Jayavikrama, it was said in the ICC press release that if he does not answer the allegations of involvement in match fixing in addition to international cricket, action will be taken against Jayavikrama under clauses 1.7.4.1 and 1.8.1. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and ICC have agreed in this regard.

The 26-year-old left-arm Lankan spinner previously played the last Test for the national team in Bangladesh, in the 2022 Mirpur Test. He also played the last match against Australia in the same year.
