He was appointed by the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday (October 2). In this regard, a notification has been issued by the contract and foreign recruitment wing of the ministry.

It is said that according to Section 49 of the Public Service Act of 2018, Md. Siraj Uddin Miah has been contractually appointed as Principal Secretary to Principal Adviser for a period of 2 years from the date of joining on the condition of relinquishing all other employment relationships.

It is known, Dr. Siraj Uddin was a direct student of Muhammad Yunus when he was teaching in the Department of Economics at Chittagong University. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Department of Economics at Chittagong University. Then joined government service as BCS 1982 batch officer. After Awami League came to power, he became OSD in 2009 as joint secretary. He later retired in 2016.

This official known as Siraj Uddin Sathi has written books on various subjects. He wrote a total of 32 books on various topics including bureaucracy, liberation war, social evolution, religious thought, economics. His first book 'Jarimon of Beloil Village and others' was edited by Dr. Muhammad Yunus. 'Bureaucracy of Bangladesh' and 'Thirty-two years in the interior of bureaucracy' are his books on bureaucracy.

Siraj Uddin Tofazzal Hossain is being replaced as Chief Secretary. He said that he will join the work of the Chief Secretary on Thursday (October 3).

In an immediate response, Siraj Uddin said that his service will be for the country and the nation, for the welfare of the country and the nation. He is thankful that the interim government has considered him for this important responsibility due to national needs. He said that he will try to give his best in fulfilling this responsibility.
