We have been hearing since childhood that sleeping with wet hair causes hair follicles to split. Apart from this, various problems arise. But there are many, who need to wet their head at night and go to sleep without drying their hair. It really damages the hair. However, this problem can be avoided by sleeping with wet hair.

Sleeping with wet hair

India's celebrity hair experts Divya Sabanagam and Anjali Merchant revealed the real way to sleep with 'wet' hair in a recent interview with Vogue India. They said that when someone comes to them for a treatment, they all have a common question. That is, 'Can you sleep with wet hair or not?' Divya says, 'Hair may be slightly damp or slightly wet during sleep. But it cannot be kept completely wet.'

Sleeping with completely wet hair weakens the hair roots. It easily increases the rate of hair loss. And when you wake up and comb your wet hair, it gets tangled. Due to this, the risk of hair loss increases at least twice as much as normal. Anjali said, 'After taking a shower, if possible, the hair should be dried at least 70 percent with a hair dryer. The remaining 30 percent can be air-dried. There is no problem if it is not dried again.' However, the cold option must be used when using a hair dryer.

Divya and Anjali also asked to pay special attention to pillow covers. Hair can easily get tangled in cotton pillow covers. Apart from this, the problem of hair breakage can also be for this type of cover. Silk pillowcases are the most beneficial for hair. Sleeping on a silk cover does not tangle the hair and does not make the hair brittle.

Many people think that sleeping with wet hair can catch a cold. This is actually a misconception. Colds are usually caused by viruses. However, sleeping with wet hair can lead to fungal infections in the hair, which can then spread to the entire head. This can result in severe dandruff problems. Divya and Anjali suggest washing pillowcases at least once a week to avoid this problem.
