International Desk: Taj Mahal of Agra is one of the seventh wonders of the world. Located on the banks of the Yamuna River, the white stone Taj Mahal is actually a memorial to the love of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz. Millions of tourists flock from different parts of the country and abroad to see this monument every year.
The Taj Mahal
The pearly white color of this monument is gradually turning green. Experts say that this kind of sabjet infection on stones is normal in monsoon or summer, but this should not happen in winter.
Indian archeology has always said that behind the change of color of white marble stone is a special type of insect called 'Goldikirnomas'.
This type of insect prefers to stay in simple swarms. Their kingdom rests on the Taj Mahal. Indian archeology has always said that the color of the white stone gradually turns green as the saliva and excrement released from the mouth of that 'Goldikirnomas' worm accumulates.
This pest first appeared in 2015. The contaminated water of the Yamuna river is the breeding ground of that insect. March-April and September-October, the breeding time of these insects twice a year. Therefore, as these insects grow even in summer, they continue to increase in number even before winter comes.
Can't protect the monument of love from these insects?
A team of researchers under the supervision of archaeologist Rajkumar Patel is looking into this issue. After investigation, they found that from 2015, the color of the white marble started to change to green little by little. Many blamed pollution for this. That is largely correct. However, the level of pollution decreased a little during the corona epidemic. But despite this, there was no change in this spot.
Compared to last year, these insects have reproduced at twice the speed again this year. As a result, the problem persists. But according to many, if it gets cold enough, the infestation of insects will decrease at least a little.

What measures have been taken so far to protect the Taj Mahal?
Indian archeology has always been eager to wipe the green stain from the face of the Taj Mahal. The whole monument has already been washed with 'distilled water' by their initiative. Although the insect infestation was under control for a few days, they have returned to their original place. To save this seventh wonder of the world from insects, archaeologist Rajkumar Patel also spoke to the Chemistry Department of the Archaeological Survey of India.
