According to Guinness World Records, John Alfred Tinniswood of England is currently the oldest person in the world. He is 111 years old. And Ram Singh Garh is 119 years old. Locals have demanded that necessary measures be taken to get him recognized as the oldest person in the world.

Talking to the locals, it is known that 200 years ago Ram Singh's father Buguram Garh came to Bangladesh as a tea worker from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, India with his grandfather. Tea cultivation started in this country by the hands of his father and grandfather. About 40 km from Srimangal town is Mekani Rha, a village on the Tripura border of India. Elder Ram Singh Gar of that village.

Ram Singh's date of birth is 6 August 1905 on the national identity card. His father's name is Buguram Garh. Mother Kunti is average.

In the conversation, Ram Singh said that his father's original land was in India. His father and grandfather first came to the area to grow tea. The first Putiachara tea plantation was created by his grandfather and father. Harinchhara tea garden was created in his hands. When World War I broke out in 1914-15, he was a garden watchman. He heard about that war from the English. In 1939-40 when the Second World War broke out. He also got that news from the English.

Ram Singh also said that he studied up to class three in Victoria High School, the ancient Vidyapith of Srimangal. Victoria High School then had brick houses, iron pillars on one side. On the other side was Chhan's house. Then he used to study from the house of an Acharya on Moulvibazar road. At that time there was no paved road in Srimangal.


According to Ram Singh, then Pakaghar was Tripura Rajya Bank in Srimangal Old Bazar, Ramratan Bania's house and Tripura Raja's bungalow (Raj Kachari) west of Jagannath Jiur Akhara. Sometimes the King of Tripura used to come to this bungalow on the back of an elephant. He used to collect rent from here. In the tea garden, the leaves were brought and taken with their own trolleys. He also saw the installation of that trolley line.

Dipendra Bhattacharya, Srimangal's senior teacher, said, 'From the descriptions given by Ram Singh, it can be assumed without a doubt that he is a very old man. I am 80 years old. As a child I saw fractions of Tripura State Bank in Puranbazar. And Srimangal Victoria High School was established in 1924 but the primary wing was established long before that. Since his birth date is 1905 on the voter ID card, he is 119 years old. His name should be sent to the Guinness Book of Records.'

80-year-old Niren Hadima of Harinchhara tea garden said that she joined Harinchhara tea garden in 1961 as a staff. It was then that he saw Ram Singh Gad, an old man.

Srimangal Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Abu Taleb said, 'According to NID, his age is 119 years. We are investigating the matter. Further verification will be sent to the concerned authorities, so that he gets recognition.'
