Own Correspondent, Gazipur: Mahmudur Rahman, editor of Dainik Amar Desh, has been released on bail. He was released from Kashimpur Central Jail -2 around 3.30 pm on Thursday (October 3) .

His bail order papers arrived at the jail around noon. He was released in the afternoon after checking it.

Jail Superintendent of Kashimpur Central Jail-2 Amirul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said that Mahmudur Rahman was brought to this prison last Sunday (September 29).

Mahmudur Rahman was granted bail in the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court on Thursday morning in the case of conspiracy to abduct and kill former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son and his IT advisor Sajib Wazed Joy.

It is known that the court accepted the appeal against Mahmudur Rahman's sentence on Thursday. After his lawyer asked for bail, the court granted bail.

Earlier on Sunday (September 29), Mahmudur Rahman surrendered in the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque and applied for bail on the condition of appeal. At the end of the hearing, the judge rejected his bail application and ordered him to be sent to prison.

Incidentally, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Asaduzzaman Noor sentenced Mahmudur Rahman to seven years imprisonment on August 17, 2023. In the verdict, the court ordered five people, including journalists Shafiq Rehman and Mahmudur Rahman, to be imprisoned for seven years. Five years in one section and two years in another section.

Meanwhile, a large number of leaders and activists of Gazipur Metropolitan BNP and other organizations were present in front of the Kashimpur Jail Complex after receiving the news of Mahmudur Rahman's release from prison.
