BCB renews the central contract with the cricketers every year. In continuation of that, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was in all three formats in the central agreement published by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in February this year. But everything changed in just eight months. He suddenly announced his retirement from international T20 and Tests. Which has an impact on his income as well.

The final match of the last T20 World Cup was Shakib's last match in the edition. The Tiger all-rounder's last Test match was played in the recently concluded Kanpur if he could not return home and play the Test against South Africa as per his wish. That's why Shakib is no longer in the central contract in the two editions. As a result, his salary is reduced by more than half.

The BCB released the list of central contracts by dividing the cricketers into several categories. Apart from Shakib, Liton Das, Mehdi Hasan Miraj, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Shariful Islam were in the list of three category players.

Where the salary of A+ grade in the test is 4.5 lakh taka. 4 lakh in ODI and 3.5 lakh in T20. If a cricketer's name is in three editions, he gets 100% of the first edition, 50% of the second edition and 40% of the third edition according to the category.

As such, Shakib was getting a salary of 730,000 taka per month. Apart from this, the cricketers get additional allowance if they fulfill the quota of playing a certain number of matches in the three editions.

Shakib's salary will be cut now as he withdraws from Test and T20. Shakib will get Tk 4 lakh per month for only ODI contract without playing Tests and T20s.

However, the ODI career is not lasting for long. The Tiger all-rounder has indicated that he will retire from this format after playing the next 2025 Champions Trophy.
