Autumn Durgotsava ceremony started by invoking Goddess Durga in the morning of Shubo Mahalaya. On Wednesday morning, the devotees invoked the goddess by setting up Chandipaths, mangalghats, playing brass instruments and conch shells in pavilions and pavilions across the country, including Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital.

Mahalaya Parva begins with Chandi Path at Dhakeswari National Temple at 6 o'clock. First the goddess is invoked by chanting Chandi. At this time, Mangalghat is set up and worshiped with flowers, tulsi and bel leaves.

The grand cultural program begins with the arrival song. The cultural performance shows the 'Killing of Goddess Durga Mahishasura'. After that Prasad is distributed among the devotees.

The main rituals of the second phase of Mahalaya at Dhakeswari begin at 10 am. During this episode, devotees offer til tarpan to the soul of their forefathers. Later Mahalaya Ghat was installed and special pooja was held.

Apart from Dhakeswari, the goddess is invoked in various mandaps including Ramana Kali Mandir, Swami Bagh, Tantibazar, Shakharibazar, Ramakrishna Mission and Banani in the capital. Through this, the wait for the sixth puja begins. Durga Puja will begin on October 9. It will end on October 13 by Vijay Dasami.

According to Panjika, Goddess Durga will come from Swargaloka to Martyaloka or earth on a dola or palanquin to wish the world well. The result is plague. Natural calamities, outbreaks of diseases and epidemics will increase. The goddess will leave Swargaloka riding on a horse or an elephant. As a result Bashundhara will become fertile.
