Police have arrested 4 accused in connection with the hacking and shooting death of extremist leader Sushil Kumar Sarkar (57) at Goland in Rajbari.
The district police confirmed the matter in a press release on Wednesday (October 2).
The accused who were arrested are - member of proletarian party and extremist Md. son of deceased Chalam Sheikh of Keutil village of Chhota Vakla union of Golanda upazila. Tofajzel Sheikh Tofa (38), the son of the deceased Mujibar Sheikh of the same village, a member of the Proletariat and an extremist. Lokman Sheikh (35), son of deceased Abdul Jabbar Sheikh alias Doat Sheikh of North Char Pachuria village of the upazila. Ashiqul Sheikh alias Bhashan Sheikh (28) and Char Kacharand village of the upazila. Kalam Molla's son. Johnny Mollah (34).
According to the circular, on September 22 at around 6 pm, extremist leader Sushil Kumar Sarkar was sitting on a bench in front of Emdadul's tea shop near the intersection of three roads in Katakhali Bazar, Ward No. 3 of Chhota Bhakla Union of Goland Upazila. At that time, the unidentified accused cut and shot them with sharp weapons and escaped. He was taken to the hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
Sushil's elder brother Sunil filed a case the next day in this incident on September 23. Police arrested four accused after filing a case.
Superintendent of Police of Rajbari deleted. Shamima Parveen said yesterday, on October 1, Md. was arrested in the Sushil murder case. Tofajzel Sheikh Tofa gave a confessional statement in court. The operation to arrest the remaining accused in the murder case will continue.
