In Sunamganj, former president of Jagannathpur Upazila Chhatra League, former panel mayor of municipality Safrooz Islam Munna has been arrested. He was arrested in a case filed at Sunamganj Sadar police station in connection with the attack on students.

Jagannathpur Thana Police arrested Safroz Islam Munna from Jagannathpur Bazar around 9:30 pm on Wednesday.

Jagannathpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge OC Mokhlesur Rahman Akand said that Safrooz was arrested in a case of Sunamganj Sadar Model Police Station and sent to that police station at night.

It is known that on August 4, police and Awami League leaders and activists attacked, shot and fired teargas at the protesting students in Sunamganj for a one-point demand for Sheikh Hasina's resignation. Hundreds of students were injured. In that incident, Hafizur Rahman, the younger brother of shot victim Zahur Ahmad, filed a case against 99 people including former Planning Minister MA Mannan. Hundreds of unidentified persons were accused in the case filed under the Speedy Trial Act. Munna was arrested in that case.
