The court sentenced two members of the dacoit group to life imprisonment and four other members to 10 years in the case of murder of the householder during a robbery in Shantiganj of Sunamganj.

Sunamganj Additional Sessions Judge (1st Court) Judge Tehsin Iftekhar gave this verdict on Wednesday. Each of the convicted accused was fined 50,000 taka.

The convicts are - Lalon Mia (34) son of Riaz Uddin of Dargapasha village of Dargapasha union of Shantiganj upazila of the district, Nazmul Ali (40) son of Mustafa Mia of the same village.

Those sentenced to 10 years imprisonment are Manfar (45) son of Alim Uddin of Dargapasha village of the district, Jahan (35) son of Gedaullah, Abdul Hai (35) son of Aftar Ulla, Yahya (35) son of Amir Uddin.

According to lawyers and case sources, during the robbery at Dargapasha Habib Ali's house in Dargapasha Union of Shantiganj Upazila in the night of September 18, 2009, members of the dacoit gang killed the householder Habib Ali. The next day Nazir Ali, the son of deceased Habib Ali, filed a murder case at Shantiganj police station as the plaintiff.

APP advocate Sohail Ahmed Chhail, the lawyer handling the case, confirmed the verdict to Mia Jugantar.
