Jumbangla Desk: 13 coordinators and 4 co-coordinators of Jahangirnagar University have resigned accusing the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement of behaving like a government party and being involved in activities against the spirit of mass uprising.

The coordinator-co-coordinators announced the resignation in a press conference at the conference room of the student-teacher center (TSC) of the university on Thursday (October 3) afternoon. The resigned coordinators are Abdur Rashid, Rudra Muhammad Safiullah, Haseeb Zaman, Zahidul Islam, Zahidul Islam, Fahmida Faiza, Rokaia Jannat, Mishu Khatun, Rafid Hasan, Hasanur Rahman, Abdul Hai, Nasim Al Tariq and Aindrila Majumder. Among them, Rashid also served as the central coordinator. The co-coordinators who resigned are Zia Uddin, Tanjim Ahmed, Zahidul Islam and Saidul Islam.

In a written speech at the press conference, Abdur Rashid said that the quota reform movement, which started under the banner of the anti-discrimination student movement, later turned into an anti-fascist movement based on 9 points. In its wake, an interim government was formed through the fall of fascism. However, the anti-discrimination student movement has remained silent on the demands of banning party-based student politics included in the 9 points, trial of those involved in the July massacre and compensation for the injured and victims. The anti-discrimination student movement is playing the role of a government party student organization. Apart from this, it has failed to include the agitators of all levels of Bangladesh under the same banner and ensure the representation of various universities. As a result, we think that this banner is blurring the history of participation of people of all professions, all levels and all parties in the movement that is still maintained. So this banner should be removed as soon as possible.

He also said that the inability of some coordinators of the Jabir anti-discrimination student movement to highlight Jahangirnagar University at the national level, discriminatory behavior towards comrades and the death of former Chhatra League leader and terrorist Shamim Mollah in police custody on September 18 after the lynching of several coordinators on the basis of video footage. We are resigning from the Coordinating Council as we could not come to a unified position.

The administration has indefinitely discouraged Sajek travel

Abdur Rashid also said, we think that the second freedom achieved on August 5 is for all levels, all professions and all opinions. No one is the sole creditor of the movement. At the same time, this new Bangladesh, achieved through the blood and organs of thousands of martyrs, injured people, is not only of one group; But everyone. We will make every effort from every place to uphold this second freedom and nurture its spirit, the product of toil, sweat and blood of the people.
