According to the notification signed by Saiful Islam, taking into account the overall law and order situation in Sajek and its surrounding areas of Baghaichhari Upazila of Rangamati district and the safety of tourists in these areas, tourists are discouraged from traveling to Sajek tourist center from October 4 until further notice.

Thousands of tourists travel to Sajek every Friday and Saturday during this tourist season. Due to this disincentive, tourism traders are facing losses.

Baghaichhari Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Shireen Akter confirmed the matter in the evening. He said, considering the law and order situation in Sajek and surrounding areas of Baghaichhari Upazila and the safety of tourists, travel to Sajek is being discouraged indefinitely.


UNO also said that if the situation is normal, tourists will be able to travel as before.

Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mosharf Hossain Khan said that since tourists travel to Sajek via Khagrachari. And considering the overall situation of Khagrachari at the moment, tourists are being discouraged from traveling.
