BRTC is now a profitable company: Chairman Tajul

Own Correspondent: Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has been turned into a profitable company through proper accountability, Chairman Tajul Islam said.

He said this during the payment of CPF, gratuity and leave encashment to the retired officers and employees at the meeting room of the BRTC head office on Tuesday (September 3) at noon.

At this time, the director of finance of the company was present. Anupam Saha, Director Technical Colonel Mohammad Mubarak Hesse Majumder, Accounts GM Amjad Hossain, Director (Administration) SM Kamruzzaman etc.

BRTC chairman Tajul Islam said, 'If the financial management was not transparent, the outline of BRTC would not have changed. We first planned properly and tried to execute it in that light. At one time there was no transparency of income and expenditure. People had many questions. Now the opposite question in people's minds is how this change was possible? How the salary in BRTC was increased from 6 crores to 12 crores.

He said, we have already appointed 200 talented people in BRTC. Out of this 182 people joined the work. Among them are 39 students of public universities. A modern BRTC has been formed with the initiative of new and young people. Earlier, many people used to get salary without working and those who worked did not get salary.

Tajul Islam said, now my only decision is 'no work. No Pay'. Everyone should take the lead of BRTC through work.

He further said, we have now achieved the capacity of making 20 cars per month. Our technical department is now very strong. Earlier many bill vouchers were collected only in the name of car repair. Now I have stopped this voucher practice. The vehicle itself is modified to make it drivable.

BTRC chairman said that despite not having new cars after 2021, the officers and employees are being paid about 12.5 crore rupees. I have not allowed any discrimination since joining here. Everyone gets the benefits they deserve. Our institution has been reformed long ago. For which BRTCiri employees can now access their money in the bank through online from the comfort of their homes.

BRTC has been disbursing CPF, gratuity and leave encashment to retired officers and employees every three months since 2021 through online banking. In continuation of that, today 296 retired officers-employees have been given 45,04,98,61.44 rupees for CPF, gratuity and leave encashment. Also, 21,50,000 rupees have been paid from the welfare fund to 58 officers and employees who are sick and terminally affected.

During this time, many of the retirees became overwhelmed with emotions while expressing their feelings by connecting online and directly.

Before this, despite having a new car, it was not possible to regularly pay the salary of 6 crores to the officers and employees. But at present, by ensuring institutional transparency, accountability and efficient management of administration, by earning revenue from old cars, about 12.5 million rupees are being paid to officers and employees, besides CPF, gratuity and leave monetization money are being paid regularly.
