Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two Indian nationals from Rajshahi's Charghat border. They were sent to jail on Thursday.

They were arrested from 68/2-S border pillar area under Yusufpur Border Outpost (BOP) of Charghat Upazila of the district on Wednesday evening.

The two arrested Indian nationals are Ainul Haque (55) son of Abdur Rahim of Sagarpara Lalkup village of Jalangi police station in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, India and Shoaib Nabi Sheikh (40) son of German Ali of the same village.

Rajshahi's 1st BGB battalion captain Lt. Colonel Motiul Islam Mondal said that these two Indian citizens crossed the Padma River and infiltrated into Bangladesh approximately 500 yards from the border pillar. At that time, when they were arrested, they admitted that they were Indian citizens.


Charghat police station OC ASM Siddiqur Rahman said that two Indian citizens were handed over to the police station after filing a case under the relevant law on behalf of the BGB. Two Indian nationals were sent to jail after being produced in court on Thursday.

The BGB captain also said that intelligence surveillance and patrolling activities have been increased to prevent Indian infiltration along the border route in Rajshahi region.
